Greetings Fellow MLM'ers and Affiliates,
Today, I'd like to cover 1 of 3 important things you must first master, IF you're going to put your business in high gear (and I'm not talking about prospecting 3 - 5 people/day). No kidding. I'm talking about taking massively targeted, daily action!
1) You need a decent prospecting script
2) You need a decent transition
....As a way of qualifying people
FAST, determining whether or
not people want what you have
to offer.
...If it's 'no', move on. The top dogs
don't waste any time.
3) You need a proper closing script
Did you know that they big guys don't wing
anything when they're on stage, when they're
sitting in front of a camera or when they're
prospecting on the phone?
Nothing is left to chance.
You can close a small portion of business by
'winging it' but good luck. That's going to
bring you success for a very tiny portion of
your total business. Truth is -- you must be
organized before you ever 'go live'. (Heck --
the success or failure of your business
depends on this one thing alone.)
Believe it or not, top recruiters and affiliates
rehearse what they'll say.., long before they
say it... whether they deliver their words in print
or by audio. (Your message and your voice is
an advertisement!)
Conclusion: The top dogs can have scripts
different from yours when they're
standing on stage! This fact has more
to do with exciting the crowds...because
you'll purchase corporate stuff when
you're excited..and they'll obtain a portion
of proceeds. If you're asking yourself,
"But why didn't my upline tell me that"?
Some do and some don't. (This fact has more
to do with mastering marketing at extensive
levels.)
Think about it.
The top pros always know what to say... and how to say it.
They know precisely how to overcome any and all
objections.
When you have the right script in your hands,
it's no longer a mystery. Unfair advantage?
No.
If you're like me and you want to know precisely HOW
all of the MLM and even affiliate machinery works -- watch. Pay
close attention. Listen. Sift through what doesn't work
and then find what works!
So WHAT should a decent script do?
WHO does your script position? Is it anyone other
than yourself. Big mistake. Once you do this, you've
just relegated yourself to the social status of someone
residing below the status of a car salesman...(not meaning
to jab car salesmen, unfairly. I apologize in advance.
These folks can be helpful when you need
a car).
See point 4) below about individual positioning (instead of corporate).
You'll be far more successful if you lead with
your expertise...than a corporate message.
Trust me on this point. There are many purposes
behind a well-written prospecting script.
To find out more, feel free to fill in your information
in the right-hand side of my blog but be patient.
In a series of e-mails, I reveal the mysteries behind
several aspects of proper marketing, telling you what
you need to know to have people calling you -- not
the other way around.
Pay close attention to the corporate scripting you've been
handed by your companies, affiliates and MLM's. Notice
how 'a few players are mentioned'. It's almost as if
they're the only people residing on the planet. Then... here
you are..., this invisible talent...wondering why the limelight
isn't being shared). But..., this reality has more to do with
corporations taking their proven entities, putting the heavy
hitters in the public eye. That's all it is. These folks know
how to work the crowd.
Can you learn those skills?
Absolutely!
So here's what you need to put yourself at the head of the pack.
Part A) If you have a script -- it must mention you and only you.
Part B) If you have a script you can alter a bit, you want to mention the
values and benefits of your offer. You're taking about the product or
service directly. (Hint: Remember to think along the lines of what the
client wants. You don't want to get lost in the compensation plans per se
because people only care about what's in it for them.)... and that's it.
CAVEAT:
The best way to blow your organizational growth
is to mention, "Meet me at this meeting...and help me grow my
business"! I actually got an e-mail like this just last night.
Guess what happened? I hit the spam button.
Part C) You can't mention your corporate name or you're stepping
on corporate toes. That's okay. You don't need a product name.
4) Let's talk about positioning you further...as the expert, and
not the corporation.
You can leave the corporate name out of your prospecting
script because people only want to know how the product or
service will...again...meet their needs -- NOT YOURS. Sorry.
Human beings motivate out of 2 primary emotions: pleasure or
pain and that's about it. In an enlightened minority, they'll
motivate by a higher purpose.
If you don't agree with what I'm suggesting here, just keep doing
what you're doing. Eventually when you've spoken to enough
people out there (warm market or otherwise), you'll begin to hear,
"What's in this deal for me"? When you get wise, you'll eventually adopt
your script answering those basic questions, up front.
Example of a Positioned Script.
Hi. I'm so-and-so. The reason for my call is that I understand you're a fellow
_____________ (pink elephant lover or fellow marketer).
One of the reasons I'm contacting you today is that I understand (you want
more time to spend with your family..., or you want to earn a bit of extra income
from home working part-time..., or you want to alleviate joint pain..., or you
like to collect pink and fuzzy toy elephants).
Q1: Are you still collecting pink elephants?....Or, are you still working your job
but would like to have a chance to build a part-time income?
Q2: Which pink, fuzzy elephants have you collected in the past? ...Or, Where are you working right now? Is this something you'd like to do long-term?
Q3: How long have you been collecting pink, fuzzy elephants...or how long have you been with
your current firm? How's it going?
Q4: _________, One of the things I do _____________, is I help people expand their collections or find alternate ways of creating additional part-time income. Is that something
you think you'd like to find out more about today, spending only ______ minutes of your
time?
End Result:
You'll get 'yes' and you'll get 'no'. (This reality has nothing to do
with rejection. Either the potential client has a need or they don't.)
The people who say 'no' aren't your market.
The people who say 'yes' are.
Ask the top dogs.
They sift and sort.
They don't convince.
So...your script can end along these lines --
Before I answer more of your questions, I'd like to get a general idea as to where you're at in your collecting plans...or where you're at in addressing your personal goals?
Then..., here's where you're earning your keep --
Pin the person down (committ to taking some specific action now
as opposed to next week...or most often, never).
Invite them to something which exposes them to your offer.
But keep your name and contact information in the loop at this
point. It's very important they have your information.
Then you follow up with a close.
To find out more, feel free to fill in your information in the
right-hand side of this blog. You'll find resources answering
these questions and more in my MLM resource center.
Your contact information always remains confidential.
Sincerely,

Finding Quality Leads For Less Without Going Broke
Greetings Fellow MLM'ers/Affiliates,
Do you find that you don't have enough good prospects to talk to as you're growing your business? Even if your warm market yields a stream of prospects, you still need an endless supply of names. So, if you've ever felt that growing your business would be more fun by tapping into an unlimited reserve, it's not a dream. You can talk to many people interested in your business and your products!
Some of the most frequently asked questions that I get are:
Do leads work?
How do you find quality leads?
What are the different types of leads?
Should I pay a lot for leads?
Today, we're going to solve the problem of leads, turning your biggest liability into a real business asset.
Today, you're going to learn how you can have an endless stream of people, hearing more about your product, service, or opportunity.
There is no doubt that leads work.
The reason that many people in network marketing are taught to chase their 'warm' market is natural. 1) It sounds easy, 2)It's a way of positioning the top guys instantly, 3) It's a way of opening channels otherwise remaining closed, 4) It's something that worked very well a long time ago. But with the advent of Internet Marketing, times are changing. Think back to the 1940's when people knew their neighbors, including all of the other people in their neighborhood. Nowadays, most people don't even know the person next door or the family living 2 apartments down the street. So, many of us find we're living in a very different society than we did 50 years ago.
Worry no more. The Internet is here to level the playing field, even if you still enjoy offline marketing.
If you're looking to grow a huge 'monster business', you will probably have to venture outside of your friends and family to acquire decent clients and/or business builders. And..., finding targeted leads are a viable way to accomplish this goal.
You should be forewarned -- all leads stink.
I'm not saying that leads don't work...because they do. You see, there's a mythological notion our brains like to conjur, easily thinking that there's some sort of 'magical lead' sitting around the house. We tend to hope and pray today will be the the day that we'll contact such a person, offering our ideal product or service. But..., there's no such lead, happy as that notion may sound. If you know where they are, then clue me in because I'm still looking.
That fact stated, finding targeted leads beats chasing friends and family hands down. You must have an endless supply of leads for a new business..., and lead lists fill the need.
There are 3 different types of leads. Today, I'll cover 2 of them so that you understand the main differences, aiming to preserve your cash flow.
The first type of lead is what's known as a Demographic Lead. A demographic lead is separated based on a very large, general demographic data. For example, if you were marketing a health and wellness product that helped to reduce joint pain, you might target people over age 50, since they typically have high occurrences of joint pain, arthritis, and more.
If you were marketing a product like a benefits savings package, then you might choose to target young married couples between ages 35 - 45, since they are one of the main groups of people now being hammered by this credit crunch.
You can specify that you want demographic leads of people carrying a certain credit score, or you can specify that you want demographic leads of people who earn over a certain dollar figure, in annual income known as per capita income. You can specify that these leads come from a precise geographic location, preferrably residing within the area of 50 miles nearest where you live.
The important thing to understand is that demographic leads are:
1. The most general (and least targeted) type of lead, and
2. It's the cheapest type of lead available.
Demographic leads apply best to products that aren't very niche such as benefits packages, identity theft services, insurance, etc.
The 2nd type of lead is what's known as a Response Lead. A response lead is a lead who responds to something specific. For example, that individual might fill out a questionnaire or request more information about a product or a service. A response lead is much more targeted than a demographic lead because that person must take some sort of an action to become a response lead. You know that this person must hold a specific interest in whatever they are responding to. If you get a low response rate, it's most likely because you tried to match Red '57 Chevy buyers to 2009 Black SUV buyers. You see?
Offering another example --
...of a response lead would cover a marketing situation where the inquiring mind wants free information on a Nordic Track or Bowflex. The fact is that this person may respond to a commercial or call the company requesting more information on what's involved. That inquiry means this person must have a high interest in what the Nordic Track or Bowflex can do, as product benefits and values are listed.
Here's the neat part.
You can get targeted response leads for whatever it is that you are marketing!
If you were marketing a Telecom service, you could get targeted response leads where these folks responded previously to some sort of ad for a discounted phone service. If you were marketing a weight loss product, you can get response leads recently inquiring about a weight loss program.
Pretty neat!
**Special Note**
Opportunity-Seeking Leads are the toughest leads to dial, said with care. The intention here is not to scold you for making a decision you felt was needed but to tell you that these types of leads are usually re-sold over and over again, to a point where... if you contact these folks, you'll find out these people were dialed long before you've called them, telling you then to fly a kite. I've been there so you're not alone if you've sometimes hit a 'screaming prospect'.
Opportunity-seeking leads are Pseudo-Response Leads, meaning that the marketed message used to generate this type of lead results in a huge variety of mixed responses. That means these responses weren't specifically matched to the marketed message. These leads are generated using a gun shot approach -- wide spread pattern, with few holes in the target itself. A poorly-written survey will get you a poor result so the next best thing to do with these leads is to use them as fire-starters on a cold winter's night.
When you are "lead shopping", you want to focus on listing the benefits of your product or service.
If you want to lead with your company's income opportunity, please refer to my next post where I mention something about this challenge. It's not an optimal way to introduce your product or service because people will usually run when they 'hear an offer' right up front. We've all been bombarded with offers. No one likes to be pitched.
If you lead with the benefits of your product, you'll draw people to you on the basis of a set of specifically-matched needs..., matching the product/service values to a checklist of desired items your audience wants most (work from home, generate extra monthly income, work on a part-time basis, ...matching periodontal gum disease with a vitamin pack addressing that problem directly.
So the big question is: WHERE DO YOU GET LEADS?
Well, there are many different places to find leads.
One way you can get them is through lead brokers. If you do a Google search right now for "leads", you'll see a ton of different companies pop up. You can buy leads from many different sources, but here are some guidelines to go by:
1. Be Cheap - never pay more than 20 cents per lead. Usually, try to keep your cost between 5 and 10 cents. Also, you want to start with very small batches. Remember, if you are dealing with a lead broker, their job is to make you broker. Sometimes brokers will have a minimum order or batch of, say, 10,000 leads. If they do, then keep shopping. You want to start with very small batches of leads, no more than a couple-hundred-at-a-time.
2. Avoid Data-Managers - These will be the people on the first few pages of your search results. I personally don't recommend you conduct business with a data-vendor or data-manager, for the simple reason that you may be regarded as a "small fry" in their eyes. They typically sell millions of leads each month, so if you come knockin' at their door asking to buy a few hundred leads..., you may not be viewed as a legitimate business in their eyes.
The real "lead brokers" are located on the back pages of your google searches. They're cheap buggers so they're not going to try to compete with the big data-vendors for the first page of Google rankings. Interview a small brokerage company and build a relationship with a "mom and pop" type of lead firm that will respect small orders, treating you as a person.
3. Don't Go For Your First Offer - Shop around for leads. You'll get many different offers. The goal is to not get the absolute cheapest leads, but rather, find a broker that you can build a business relationship with, finding someone who will back you up and stand behind what they're selling. I'd rather pay a lead broker with integrity twice what I'd pay per lead, over say associating with a lead broker who won't care two figs about my business. Just like anything else, success with your business endeavor depends largely on the quality relationships you develop.
So now you know about 2 different types of leads, plus their inherent differences, where to get them, and what to pay for them. Hopefully, 2008 is shaping up to be a good year for your business. Check out my next post for the 3rd type of lead!

Shed the Scourge of Perfection -- Be Proactive, Not Perfect
Hi folks!
I've been talking to people in my 'VIP Newsletter' about what entrepreneurs can do to shed light on the indelible 'void which persists' even when they've attained many of their life goals. Let's call this the scourge of perfectionism -- a prevailing belief that if you finally attain all you ever set out to do -- you'll finally be happy. Where I'm going with this blog post has more to do with amazing people holding themselves back in life because they can't get past the want of having everything be 'just so' before they take the next step. This next step could apply to personal relationships or business.
Let's address this illusion at the business level.
If we're holding back, sitting in a void, when will you create your profitability? Wouldn't the definition of happiness include a notion that life need not be a struggle. If you agree with this concept, let's extend the thought one step further.
Know that no matter what's happening in your life, always celebrate today by recognizing NOW that if you're sitting in some type of difficulty..., "This challenge too shall pass". Some pains are meant put in place to birth your greater self called higher awareness. Let's briefly look at why this void may persist, if you might feel that it's somehow holding you back.
Suppose there is a real part of yourself asking for attention..., so that it may heal. If you repress the signal, it will persist. If you note that this is an emotion you can address by using positive rather than negative self-talk, you can
address this perfectionistic tendency.
As entrepreneurs, we can get caught in the snare of trying to create beliefing our products(s) or service(s) isn't/won't be where 'it should be' so we don't step into real action (connecting to others). Until you feel that you're already worthy of people's trust and payment, well..., you can begin to see where this belief will hold you back.
What the cyclical belief does:
1) It will prevent you from ever taking right action -- advertising your message to those who are in need for it. MLM'ers call this action prospecting. Affiliates call this action ad exposure. In my book, it's the same thing. Take action daily. Reach out to people.
2) If your perfectionism prevails -- keep in mind that small actions are meaningful. If you find that you're not achieving what you initially set out to do, use a daily checklist. What you don't accomplish one day is fine. Pull that point forward onto the next day's checklist but keep working. Point is -- you must check off the points you know that will move you forward.
To address perfectionism directly, consider recognizing and owning the attribute up to a certain point. Still put yourself out there today. If you make a mistake, peoit's okay. The nature of direct selling or Internet Marketing means you master the lesson AFTER you've stepped through it. People will give you ample opportunity to reconnect.
3) Recognize -- that if the answers don't fully appear today, continue taking some type of action centered around your business. That action might involve educating yourself further about identifying the correct marketing tips, tools and resources you need. Over time, what will emerge is your new business! By figuring out over what you absolutely need or don't need (as those concepts serve you and your clients), you'll be in good shape within another year or so. If there are no improvements in your life by that time, then you have to sit down with yourself to look at what's working best.
4) In early marketing phases, people spend time figuring out who we don't want to emulate. Just don't sit there too long. The point is that you can trust yourself and run with your course. Small business steps might involve building specific skills you can later monetize.
In Internet Marketing, these examples would include --
basic copywriting (writing compelling ad messages)
picking up your own autoresponder then mastering it's use
learning how to build miniature websites
writing articles
mastering keyword research
mastering pay-per-click advertising
mastering adsense revenue generation
mastering blogging
learning e-mail promotions...and more.
To find out what Internet Marketers are doing to solve these challenges, click on the right-hand side of this blog for your free niche pdf.
These skills can be used to promote marketing campaigns at the corporate level. They can be used at the MLM level. They can be used at the affiliate marketing (Internet Marketing level).
4) The key to your success online will mean you have to pick a direction, building your knowledge in 1 or 2 areas.
5) Use the attribute of perfection to strengthen your work over time.
6) What's the biggest thing you can do today to put your business into motion?
It might mean contacting 1 - 3 people. Does it mean branding your name somewhere on something like your regular e-mail then handing out that information. Don't worry. You'll soon find out what doesn't work. Business cards only go so far. Flyers don't do much for you. Consider adding your name to a signature line on an e-mail, using the social networks to establish contact.
Keep your name out there. It might mean clarifying your message..., figuring out what you'll say. It might mean offering a few solutions to those you know. It may mean you can only start by zeroing in on your niche. The answer must include a solution on someone else's terms -- not yours. So you have to come from an open agenda.
Continue to build your list of connections over time.
Ways to do that --
a) You can start by using Linked-In or Plaxo but these are starter places to drive traffic to your blog or website..., or to network your business further.
b) Online forums -- establish daily contact.
If you check out the links I've placed on the right-hand side of my blog, there's an educational resource that brings you the world's largest, most active forum for the cost of a large pizza/month.
c) self-publishing
You can write an article of 300 words, publishing for free your findings at http://www.ezinearticles.com/. This will not only get you indexed with the major
search engines but it will make it possible for people to find you online.
d) defining your niche -- find out if the folks you'll market to first have a need
for what you're offering.
